ARTIST BIO

Born in France, my yearning to explore and discover the world led me to live in the United States.

Navigating life in two languages carries the risk that words may be “lost in translation.” I find in oil painting a medium that transcends language and captures the simultaneity of emotions while language divides and organizes the experience.

Grounded in my background in Jungian psychoanalysis and medicine where observation, perception, the relationship between internal and external worlds are important, I express epiphanies, transitory moments where past, present, and future converge, and landscapes through color dynamics.

A landscape is the space nurturing life and also nurtured by the life around it. A landscape conveys emotions and even reflects emotions, transitory emotional states or emotional states which are the blueprint and the pattern of our personality. In a landscape, the intensity of values, the structure created by color, the melodious repetition of colors or the unexpectedness of some, which will not nevertheless shatter the harmony, all catch my attention. A landscape speaks to me and conversely also reflects my emotional states, past and present. These emotions guide my choices of color pairing: warm yellows and intense blues, deep greens and vibrant reds. Oil painting is for me an ideal medium because of its plasticity. This tactile process is an act of re-voir--to see again-- revisiting memory, time, and emotional blueprints through the richness of oil paint.
